What’s Your RTO’s Worst Nightmare?
E.L.F.S. Leader We’re your worst nightmare. Elves with Attitude.
I wonder if you were drawn in by the heading and started thinking about what your RTO’s worst nightmare could actually be.
And if that’s happened, I sort of apologise.
Only sort of because it’s important to think about the worst case scenarios in all we do; whether that’s looking at the financial numbers, managing staff or liaising with students.
Often times, we avoid circumstances or dealing with things because we don’t like conflict. And as I’ve said on many occasions, well who does!
I don’t believe anyone really likes dealing with conflict but those who are able to manage it more effectively generally do these two things:
- Deal with things straight away, when it happens rather than putting it off
- Thinking through all the options, ideas, arguments including the worst case scenario which could be presented to them by the other person.
By preparing in this way, they are able to work out what they wish the ideal outcome to be and if they can be comfortable if the worst case happens. If you can, then you know you have options in any discussion. If you don’t, then you need to keep working the problem until you are comfortable with this scenario because thinking it won’t happen is not a solution/decision.
RTO Insights from The Santa Clause Movie
Rather than embrace negativity in my last blog post for the year, I would much prefer you to embrace the awesomeness of this quote.
Have you been your RTO’s worst nightmare (tongue in cheek) and been the RTO CEO with Attitude, just like our E.L.F.S Leader?
If not, I would love you to please use your Christmas break to think about how you can DARE to Lead your RTO in 2020 with Positivity, Purpose, Clarity and Elf Attitude which absolutely oozes FUN!
American Film Critic, Leonard Maltin, said this of the movie:
When Tim Allen made The Santa Clause, I thought that it was a delightful film. It took modern sensibility but layered onto it a kind of sentiment.
So I hope you embrace modern sensibility with sentiment and sprinkle it throughout your team, your students, your RTO.
But please don’t just do it in December simply because it’s Christmas.
Surely this is something we should be sprinkling every day, everywhere?
And here’s my final thought
On behalf of Take Another Look, I want to wish you a safe, joyous and wonderful Christmas, and a Happy New Year.
