Are You Changing The Game?
If we win, on our budget, with this team; we’ll have changed the game. And that’s what I want. I want it to mean something.
Too often, we can get caught up in doing the ‘stuff’ – compliance, forms, lists etc; and we can miss or lose sight of why we do what we do.
And this is why I love this quote from Moneyball.
Everyone working in an RTO should be passionate about change because training is all about changing and enhancing the knowledge, skills and abilities of students.
And yet, change is the one thing that’s complained about the most.
So as you lead your RTO, either as a sole operator or with a team to help, are you building an RTO which means something, which is driven to change the game; or are you content with complacency and ‘this is how we’ve always done things so it’s fine’?
There is an epidemic failure within the game to understand what’s really happening. This leaves those who run Major League Baseball teams to misjudge their players and mismanage their teams.
So are you misjudging your clients… your students… your team?
If yes, what’s one action you need to take to remedy this?
Remember: If nothing changes, nothing changes.
When was the last time you had a real heart to heart with yourself to determine if you were mismanaging your team? If it’s been a while, again what’s one thing you need to do to change this?
Billy Beane I made one decision in my life based on money. And I swore I would never do it again.
What’s the key driver to achieve success in your RTO?
What does success mean and what does it look like – can you define it specifically or is it just a word?
I’m certainly an advocate for running a profitable business because if not, then you’re no help to anyone.
But if money is the sole driver, then my question is: How’s that working for you and your team?
Here’s my final tip:
Billy Beane How can you not get romantic about baseball?
In everything we do in life, we need to see the romance, the fun, the passion because this is what drives us to achieve, to improve.
So do you feel romantic about accredited training and running your RTO, or do you need to exit stage left?
